At the request of Cessna Aircraft Company, the FAA has issued Notices of Proposed Rulemaking that would mandate a costly spar strap modification to the following aircraft models:

Cessna is also developing similar spar strap modifications for its other 300- and 400-series piston twin models, and seems likely to ask the FAA for additional ADs applicable to those models.

In order to determine whether the proposed ADs might be made less burdensome, compliance times might be increased, and/or alternative means of compliance (AMOC) might be approved, a cooperative of owner organizations (including CPA, AOPA, COO, CTSc, Twin Cessna Flyer, and RACCA) -- with the encouragement of the FAA Small Airplane Directorate -- is requesting that owners/operators of these aircraft provide the following information on time-in-service, inspection status, and operational profiles:
