This site is devoted to the collection and dissemination of information related to the FAA's proposed ADs that would require a costly spar strap modification to many Cessna piston twins. These ADs were requested by Cessna Aircraft Company, and as currently proposed would affect the following aircraft models:
Cessna is also developing similar spar strap modifications for its other 300- and 400-series piston twin models, and seems likely to ask the FAA for additional ADs applicable to those models.
In order to determine whether the proposed ADs might be made less burdensome, compliance times might be increased, and/or alternative means of compliance (AMOC) might be approved, a cooperative of the owner organizations listed below -- with the encouragement of the FAA -- is requesting that owners/operators of these aircraft participate in a survey of owners/operators in order to gather information on time-in-service, inspection status, and operational profiles.
This site also includes and extensive reference library of relevant documents and an open discussion forum where owners/operators, industry experts, and other interested parties may discuss these NPRMs.
A vigorous discussion of this topic is also taking place in the Cessna 300/400 Forum on the Cessna PIlots Association website. Although this forum is open to CPA members only, here is a read-only snapshot of the exchanges that have been going on there recently.
